Humble Masterpieces

posted in Nonfiction |

This little gem of a book by Paola Antonelli contains an insightful collection of the design marvels that we take for granted. The masterpieces featured include objects that we see and use in our everyday life like safety pin, noodles, bubble wrapper, lead pencil, ice cream cone, spark plug, condoms, sugar cubes, bar code, tweezers, ear buds, post-it notes, and so on.

Ms. Antonelli puts each object in prosper perspective that enables us to marvel the creativity, ingenuity and genius of each creation. The stunning close-up photographs by Francesco Mosto nicely compliment Antonelli’s riveting prose. In the process of writing about everyday masterpieces, Ms. Antonelli has created another masterpiece.

The prose, the photographs, the design, layout, paper, production, all are excellent and together creates a magical experience for the readers. I recommend this book to all and I am sure you will enjoy it.
